Over 70,000 APVA Award Votes Recorded

In case you missed it, voting for the African Podcast and Voice Awards have ended. We’d like to wish every nominee a hearty congratulations and hope you come out victorious in the final round 👇🏾

Africa’s premium podcast magazine, The Podcast Sessions, celebrates its second anniversary with the release of its July/August 2022 issue. On the cover are Andy Maqondwana and Zweli Mbhele, co-hosts of Netflix’s Never Late | African Time podcast – arguably one of the biggest podcast productions on the continent.

The cover story provides exclusive insight into the backstory, production, and overall experience of making this monumental podcast. And as you might know, when it comes to Netflix, there’s no such thing as too much.

Molly Jensen, CEO of Afripods, shares her love of podcasting with Tony Doe on an exclusive feature on “Podcast related.”

According to Podnews

Acast is to acquire Podchaser, the “world’s most comprehensive and authoritative podcast database” in a deal worth $34m. Podchaser, which is expected to make a profit next year, will continue to operate as a separate brand: it contains data of more than 4.5m million podcasts, including advertising information. The integration will bring additional data to Acast’s advertisers.

Today, we spotlight “The Stoop Podcast”.

The Stoop podcast explores stories from the Black diaspora that we don’t always share out in the open. Hosts Leila Day and Hana Baba start conversations about what it means to be Black, and how we talk about blackness in America, and globally. It’s a celebration of Black joy in all its diversity, with a mission to dig deeper into stories that we need to talk about.
