The Association Of African Podcasts and Voice Artists (APVA) Launches “One Minute Podcast Challenge” in Commemoration of Africa Podcast Day

The Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists  [APVA] is excited to announce the “One Minute Podcast Challenge” as part of the second edition of the Free Podcast Production Program. This dynamic challenge aims to celebrate Africa Podcast Day on February 12, 2024.

Podcasters from across the continent are cordially invited to participate and demonstrate their creative flair, storytelling prowess, and unique perspectives within a concise one-minute timeframe.

In expressing the significance of this challenge, Bidemi Adedire, (The Founder of APVA), states, “The ‘One Minute Podcast Challenge’ is more than a tribute to Africa Podcast Day; it is a reflection of the rich storytelling legacy ingrained in our continent. In just one minute, we aim to encapsulate the essence, diversity, and brilliance that African podcasters bring to the global stage. This challenge celebrates unity, community, and the amplification of impactful stories.”

Key Elements of the Challenge

Launch and Submission Period: The One Minute Podcast Challenge will officially commence on January 10th, allowing podcasters to submit their one-minute podcast episodes until the submission deadline on January 31, 2024. This timeframe allows participants to craft their entries and engage with their audience.

Judging Criteria: Entries will undergo evaluation based on the aggregate number of likes, tags, and mentions the podcast garners on three social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. This approach ensures impartial judging, irrespective of participants’ follower count.

Participants in the “One Minute Podcast Challenge” can win enticing prizes ranging from:

  • Podcast production program: Free podcast production services for three or more Podcast episodes for the winners.
  • Graphic Design Package: Winners will be matched with a graphics designer for free custom graphics of 5 promotional templates.
  • Monetary Support: Cash prizes for winners who emerge as;
  • First runner-up: 500 USD
  • Second runner-up: 300 USD
  • Third runner-up: 100 USD
