Jedidiah Mugarura has just been announced as the winner of the 2025 Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets, a prestigious honour that recognises emerging poetic voices from the continent.
Their winning manuscript, Nyamuteza, described as “extraordinary” and “intellectually brilliant” by the judging panel, will be published by the University of Nebraska Press as part of the African Poetry Book Series.
